Architectural CAD Technician (Contract – 3–6 Months)
Location: York or Pontefract
Working Pattern: Office-based with up to 2 days per week working from home
Duration: 3–6 Month Contract
Start: Immediate / ASAP
Our Architectural practice client are currently seeking an experienced Architectural CAD Technician to join their team on a 3–6 month contract basis, which will be outside of IR35.
This role will support ongoing building projects and requires strong technical drawing ability, excellent attention to detail, and a solid understanding of building construction.
This position is based in either York or Pontefract, with the option to work from home up to two days per week. Please note: fully remote applicants will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Producing accurate 2D drawings using AutoCAD
- Drawing and checking line work to ensure technical accuracy and compliance
- Inputting and interpreting survey information into CAD drawings
- Preparing architectural plans, elevations, sections, and details
- Amending drawings in line with project and client requirements
- Coordinating drawing information with internal teams and consultants
- Ensuring drawings comply with current building regulations and industry standards
- Supporting the wider technical team with general CAD duties
Requirements
- Strong, proven AutoCAD experience (essential)
- Solid understanding of buildings, construction methods, and detailing
- Experience working on UK-based building projects
- Ability to accurately interpret and input survey data
- Excellent attention to detail and line accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Strong communication skills
Desirable
- Experience working within architectural or building consultancy environments
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations
- Experience producing technical construction details
