An excellent opportunity has become available for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a respected civil engineering contractor working across infrastructure, roads, utilities and groundworks projects throughout the Central Belt. This Assistant Quantity Surveyor role is ideal for someone looking to develop their commercial career while working alongside experienced commercial professionals on a wide range of projects.

The successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial team with the day-to-day financial management of projects, gaining valuable experience across all aspects of quantity surveying.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the commercial management of civil engineering projects.
  • Prepare valuations, cost reports and financial forecasts.
  • Support subcontract procurement and tender evaluations.
  • Assist in measuring works and preparing payment applications.
  • Monitor project costs and maintain commercial records.
  • Support the preparation of variations and final accounts.
  • Liaise with site teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Assist with contract administration.
  • Help identify commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor with project reporting.

Requirements

  • Experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Graduate Quantity Surveyor within construction or civil engineering.
  • HNC, HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Desire to build a long-term career in civil engineering.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
