Building Surveyor

Conrad Consulting is delighted to be working with a highly regarded, multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy to recruit a Building Surveyor with a professional bias to join its established team in South Essex.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Building Surveyor looking to develop their career within a respected consultancy, working across a varied portfolio of commercial and public-sector properties.

The Role

As a professionally focused Building Surveyor, you will provide a broad range of professional surveying services to a diverse client base. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting projects and commissions, while developing long-term client relationships.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking detailed building surveys and condition surveys.
  • Preparing schedules of condition and schedules of dilapidations.
  • Providing planned maintenance and lifecycle advice.
  • Preparing specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation.
  • Producing professional reports and technical advice for clients.
  • Advising on building defects, remedial works and maintenance requirements.
  • Providing contract administration services.
  • Undertaking project monitoring and overseeing works on site.
  • Carrying out reinstatement cost assessments and other professional valuations where appropriate.
  • Managing multiple instructions and projects through to completion.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and professional teams.
  • Supporting the continued growth and development of the Building Surveying team.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
  • MRICS qualified or working towards chartered status.
  • Previous experience within a professional Building Surveying environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge and excellent report-writing skills.
  • Experience across core professional surveying services, including condition surveys, schedules of condition and dilapidations.
  • Good knowledge of building construction, defects and remedial solutions.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to manage your own workload.
  • A proactive and professional approach, with excellent attention to detail.
