Civils Operative – Housing Infrastructure

Job Overview

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Civils Operative to join a busy civil engineering contractor working on residential housing developments across East Lothian. The successful Civils Operative will work alongside experienced site teams delivering high-quality infrastructure works from initial groundworks through to final completion.

This role is ideal for a motivated Civils Operative seeking long-term work on major housing developments with excellent career progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out drainage installation, kerbing, paving and ducting works.
• Assist with roads, sewers and plot preparation.
• Operate small plant where certified.
• Follow drawings and instructions from Site Management.
• Ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship.
• Support the wider civils team across multiple work areas.
• Assist with concrete works, foundations and external works.
• Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained correctly.
• Promote excellent health and safety standards on site.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Civils Operative within civil engineering or groundworks.
• Experience on residential housing developments preferred.
• CSCS Card essential.
• CPCS or NPORS tickets advantageous.
• Experience in drainage, roads and infrastructure works.
• Good understanding of site health and safety.
• Full UK Driving Licence desirable.
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work as part of a team.
