Cost Controller – Defence Projects
Location: London (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + Benefits
About the Role
Conrad Consulting is proud to be working with a leading global consultancy to recruit a Cost Controller to join their London team. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the delivery of complex and high-value defence programmes, playing a critical role in ensuring robust financial control and project performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control project costs across multiple defence programmes
- Develop and maintain cost control systems, processes, and reporting structures
- Track budgets, commitments, and expenditures, ensuring accuracy and transparency
- Analyse cost variances and provide recommendations for corrective action
- Support forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to ensure effective cost governance
- Prepare detailed cost reports and present insights to senior stakeholders
Working Arrangements & Travel
- Hybrid working model: typically 2–3 days on client site or office, with 2–3 days working from home
- London office attendance may only be required approximately once per month for team meetings
- Travel to client sites is required, with flexibility essential
- Occasional overnight stays may be required depending on project needs
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Cost Controller, Project Controls, or similar role
- Experience within defence, infrastructure, or major project environments is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail
- Proficiency in Excel and cost management systems
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
Security Clearance Requirement
Due to the nature of the projects, candidates must be UK citizens holding a single nationality passport and be eligible to obtain the required level of security clearance.
