Cost Engineer – Defence Projects
Location: London (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 + Benefits
About the Role
Conrad Consulting is pleased to be partnering with a leading international consultancy to recruit a Cost Engineer for their London-based team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to complex and high-profile defence programmes, supporting the successful delivery of critical infrastructure and national security projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts across defence projects
- Monitor project costs and performance, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions
- Support cost planning, benchmarking, and value engineering activities
- Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate cost reporting
- Assist in risk analysis and contingency planning
- Produce detailed cost reports and present findings to key stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with project controls processes and governance standards
Working Arrangements & Travel
- Hybrid working model: typically 2–3 days on client site or office, with 2–3 days working from home
- London office attendance may only be required approximately once per month for team meetings
- Travel to client sites is required, with flexibility essential
- Occasional overnight stays may be necessary depending on project demands
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Cost Engineer, Cost Consultant, or similar role
- Experience within defence, infrastructure, or major project environments is desirable
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in cost management tools and Excel
- Understanding of project controls, cost planning, and forecasting techniques
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Security Clearance Requirement
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be UK citizens holding a single nationality passport and be eligible to obtain the appropriate level of security clearance.
