Design Coordinator

A fast-growing house building company based in Pontefract (WF9) is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Design & Build Coordinator with 3–5 years’ experience to support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of construction projects, with a primary focus on residential housing developments.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong contractor-side background who can confidently coordinate across multiple disciplines, including engineering, architecture, and multi-utilities, ensuring seamless integration from design through to construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the design process across multiple live projects
  • Act as the key interface between design teams, consultants, subcontractors, and site teams
  • Review and manage architectural and engineering drawings to ensure buildability and compliance
  • Oversee integration of multi-utilities (water, gas, electric, telecoms) into project designs
  • Identify and resolve design clashes, discrepancies, and technical issues early in the process
  • Support project delivery teams in maintaining programme timelines and design milestones
  • Ensure all designs meet regulatory requirements, planning conditions, and industry standards
  • Assist with value engineering and cost-effective design solutions
  • Attend and contribute to design meetings, site meetings, and coordination workshops
  • Maintain accurate design documentation and revision control
 

Requirements

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a design coordination or similar role within construction
  • Strong preference for candidates with a contractor background
  • Proven experience working on residential / housing projects
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Architectural design
    • Civil and structural engineering
    • Multi-utilities coordination
    • General construction methodologies
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Experience with common construction and design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, or similar)
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Desirable

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
  • Knowledge of UK building regulations and planning processes
  • Experience working on mixed-use or varied construction projects
