A leading independent property and building consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Director of Building Surveying – Dilapidations Specialist to join its growing London team.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a commercially minded MRICS Building Surveyor with a strong track record in dilapidations to take a leading role in developing and growing an established service line.
You will work with a high-profile portfolio of institutional investors, property owners and commercial clients across a range of sectors, including industrial and logistics, offices, retail, PBSA and build-to-rent.
The role will combine hands-on technical delivery, client management, business development and strategic service-line leadership, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to significantly influence the continued growth of the dilapidations offering.
The Role
As Director, you will work closely with the existing senior leadership team to develop and deliver the business plan for the dilapidations service line across the wider business.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing the dilapidations service line, driving continued growth and market profile.
- Managing and delivering a range of complex building surveying and dilapidations instructions.
- Developing strong relationships with existing institutional, investment and commercial clients.
- Identifying and winning new business opportunities and generating new client introductions.
- Supporting the development and performance of the wider technical team.
- Providing technical leadership, mentoring and coaching to junior and senior surveyors.
- Driving best practice, consistency and quality across dilapidations services.
- Developing service-line strategies, priorities and SMART objectives.
- Working collaboratively with teams across Building Surveying, Development, Engineering and Sustainability.
- Supporting marketing and business development activity, including capability statements, case studies and client presentations.
- Identifying opportunities to broaden the service offering and diversify existing client relationships.
- Maintaining high standards of risk management, technical quality and commercial performance.
- Working towards agreed fee-generation and business-development targets.
About You
The successful candidate will be an established Building Surveying professional with significant dilapidations experience, strong commercial awareness and an existing network of industry contacts.
You will ideally have:
- MRICS qualification with a relevant Building Surveying degree or equivalent.
- Extensive experience within Building Surveying and commercial dilapidations.
- A strong understanding of the commercial property market.
- An established client network and demonstrable ability to generate new business.
- A proven track record of delivering high-quality technical consultancy.
- Strong commercial and business-development skills.
- Experience managing, mentoring and developing surveying teams.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- The confidence and credibility to operate at Director level.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial approach with the ability to identify and convert opportunities.
- The ability to manage multiple instructions while maintaining consistently high technical standards.
