A highly regarded consultancy in Liverpool is seeking a Director of Civil Engineering to lead its established and growing civil engineering function. This is a standout leadership opportunity for an accomplished engineer ready to step into a senior strategic role while still remaining technically engaged in the delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
Our client is looking for someone who can shape the future of the civil engineering division, driving both technical excellence and commercial performance. The role combines high-level leadership with meaningful involvement in design, offering the chance to influence key projects from feasibility through to construction, across highways, drainage, infrastructure, and earthworks schemes.
This is a pivotal appointment within the business. The successful individual will lead multidisciplinary teams, oversee project delivery, and play a central role in client development and business growth. There is genuine scope to make a lasting impact, not only on the technical output of the department but also on its strategic direction and long-term success.
You will be expected to bring strong technical credibility in civil engineering design, alongside proven experience leading teams and managing complex infrastructure projects. A solid understanding of highways, drainage, and wider infrastructure delivery is essential, as is the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, contractors, and local authorities. Chartered status (CEng MICE) would be highly advantageous.
This is a rare opportunity to join a forward-thinking consultancy at senior leadership level, offering influence, autonomy, and the platform to shape a respected civil engineering division in a growing regional office.
The package on offer is highly competitive and includes hybrid working, generous annual leave (including an extended Christmas shutdown and birthday leave), pension, private health plan, life insurance, gym membership (on-site), electric car salary sacrifice scheme, free parking, and a strong culture of team events and social activities.
