Director of Project Management

Overview

I’m working with a highly respected, multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy that has a strong presence across the UK. They deliver innovative, sustainable, and secure design and project management solutions across multiple sectors - with the Defence and Secure Infrastructure divisions experiencing significant growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Associate or Director-level Project Manager to play a key leadership role within their Defence team. The position is based in Nottingham with the flexibility of hybrid working and occasional travel across the UK.

You’ll be leading the delivery of major defence-related projects, managing multi-disciplinary teams, and developing client relationships, while contributing to the overall business strategy and growth of the defence portfolio.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage design and project teams across offices and disciplines.
  • Deliver projects from inception to completion, typically valued between £300k and £10m+.
  • Oversee design management, ensuring compliance with UK standards and best practice.
  • Act as a primary client contact, building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Support business development and contribute to the wider growth strategy in Defence and Secure Infrastructure.
  • Mentor and motivate team members, encouraging collaboration and professional growth.
  • Monitor project performance, financials, schedules, and change control.
  • Promote a culture of safety, inclusion, and quality throughout the design and delivery process.

 

Experience and Skills Required

  • Degree in a built environment, construction, or related discipline.
  • Project Management qualification (e.g. AMP, PRINCE2, RICS Cert) desirable.
  • Strong track record in managing construction or architectural projects independently.
  • Good working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and the NBS specification system.
  • Previous experience within the Defence or Secure Infrastructure sector preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Confident using project management and collaboration tools.
