An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a well-established and growing civil engineering and construction business delivering major projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor who wants to work in a hands-on position, supporting operational teams across a varied portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
As Health & Safety Advisor, you will work closely with Site Managers, Project Managers and senior management to promote a positive health and safety culture and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with current legislation.
The Health & Safety Advisor role will include:
- Providing professional health and safety advice to site teams and management.
- Carrying out regular site inspections, audits and safety tours.
- Supporting the development and implementation of RAMS.
- Reviewing risk assessments, method statements and relevant documentation.
- Assisting with incident, accident and near-miss investigations.
- Monitoring compliance with health and safety legislation and company procedures.
- Supporting site teams with toolbox talks, briefings and training.
- Identifying areas for improvement and implementing practical corrective actions.
- Working closely with Project and Site Managers to ensure safe systems of work are maintained.
- Assisting with internal reporting, inspections and H&S performance monitoring.
- Supporting the continual development of the company's health and safety culture.
The ideal Health & Safety Advisor will have:
- Previous experience within a Health & Safety role within construction or civil engineering.
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
- IOSH membership would be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
- Experience carrying out site inspections and audits.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A practical, proactive approach to health and safety.
- The confidence to challenge unsafe practices and work positively with site teams.
- A full UK driving licence.
