Junior Architectural Technologist

If you are a Junior to Intermediate level ambitious Architectural Technologist looking for greater autonomy, flexibility, and genuine career progression, this opportunity offers a refreshing alternative to the traditional 9–5 environment.

An established and thriving architectural practice based in Hathersage, South Yorkshire is seeking an ambitious Architectural Technologist to join their close-knit team of 12 professionals. With approximately 1-2 years of industry experience preferred (though talented local graduates will also be considered), this role presents an excellent platform to accelerate your professional development within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

About the Practice

Located in the picturesque rural village of Hathersage, just 10 miles west of Sheffield with direct rail links to both Sheffield and Manchester, the practice combines high-quality design delivery with an exceptional work-life balance.

While remote working is available to all, this position would particularly benefit from an initial office-based presence to maximise learning, collaboration, and exposure to live projects. The team strongly believes that collaboration is the most effective learning platform, especially at junior to intermediate level.

Project Portfolio & Sector Focus

The practice has built a strong reputation and repeat client base across:

  • Commercial

  • Retail
  • E-commerce logistics

They are also recognised specialists in EV infrastructure projects, an area experiencing significant growth nationwide. Due to increasing demand and new commissions, they are seeking an additional team member to support the delivery of schemes contributing to the expansion and enhancement of the UK’s electric vehicle infrastructure network.

This presents a rare opportunity to be involved in forward-thinking, sustainable projects with real national impact.

The Role

You will gain exposure across the majority of the RIBA Plan of Work stages, from early feasibility and planning through to technical design and project delivery. The role offers genuine responsibility and the opportunity to develop into a client-facing professional, as building long-term client relationships is central to the practice’s ethos.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with feasibility studies and planning submissions
  • Producing detailed technical drawings and construction packages
  • Supporting project coordination and consultant liaison
  • Contributing to client meetings and developing presentation skills
  • Ensuring compliance with UK Building Regulations and industry standards

The practice is 100% Revit-based. Proficiency in Revit is highly advantageous; however, for the right candidate, structured training will be provided. This includes funded external training followed by live project experience with hands-on mentorship and support.

Career Development

This is a practice that invests in its people. You will receive:

  • Ongoing mentorship from experienced Technologists and Directors
  • Full support toward achieving MCIAT and Chartered status
  • Structured professional development opportunities
  • Increasing responsibility as your confidence and capability grow

They are seeking someone with strong interpersonal skills who is comfortable growing into a client-facing role and contributing positively to a collaborative team culture.
