P6 Planner – Civils & Rail

The Opportunity

An established and growing civil engineering business is looking to appoint an experienced P6 Planner to support the successful delivery of multiple major civils and rail projects.

This is a key position within the project delivery team, working closely with Project Managers, Commercial teams and site operations to develop, maintain and monitor detailed programmes from pre-construction through to completion.

The successful candidate will have strong Primavera P6 experience, with experience across complex civil engineering, infrastructure or rail projects and a good understanding of NEC and JCT contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and maintain detailed programmes using Primavera P6.

  • Produce and update baseline, target and live project programmes.

  • Manage programmes across multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Liaise closely with Project Managers, Commercial Managers, Site Teams and clients.

  • Monitor progress against programme and identify potential delays and areas of risk.

  • Produce regular programme updates, progress reports and management information.

  • Analyse programme performance and develop mitigation and recovery plans.

  • Support project forecasts, resource requirements and key project milestones.

  • Assist with extension of time, delay and change management activities.

  • Provide programme input into tenders and pre-construction activities.

  • Ensure programme requirements are aligned with contractual obligations.

  • Attend progress meetings and provide clear programme updates to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Work closely with site teams to ensure programme information accurately reflects progress on site.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Planner / Senior Planner within civil engineering, infrastructure or rail.

  • Strong Primavera P6 experience is essential.

  • Experience managing multiple projects and programmes simultaneously.

  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, resources and project delivery.

  • Experience working under NEC and/or JCT contracts.

  • Good understanding of delay, change and programme impact.

  • Experience working closely with Project Managers, Commercial teams and site operations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience with PACS or Site Live would be advantageous.

  • Civil engineering, infrastructure or rail experience is highly desirable.
