An established Chartered Architects practice in Sheffield are hiring for an experienced Senior level Architect or Architectural Technologist to join it’s growing team and take ownership of projects across the industrial, retail and commercial sectors.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys turning design intent into well-coordinated technical information and seeing projects through construction. You will lead work from technical design and statutory approvals through to completion, working directly with clients, consultants and contractors.
The role
- Run projects through RIBA Stages 4–6, managing programmes, technical decisions and day-to-day communication with the wider project team.
- Lead the preparation of technical drawing packages, construction details and NBS specifications.
- Coordinate Building Regulations submissions, the discharge of planning conditions, fire strategy information and relevant duty-holder requirements.
- Chair or attend design team and site meetings, coordinate consultant information and resolve technical issues as they arise.
- Respond to contractor queries, review specialist subcontractor submissions and monitor the quality of work on site.
- Work closely with structural, civil, M&E, fire engineering and building envelope specialists to deliver coordinated solutions.
About you
You will be an ARB-registered Architect or an experienced Architectural Technologist or Technician, ideally with CIAT accreditation or an equivalent professional background. We are looking for:
- At least five-ten years’ relevant UK practice experience, including substantial technical delivery and job-running responsibility.
- Experience delivering new-build, extension or refurbishment projects in the industrial, retail or commercial sectors.
- The confidence to lead projects on site and act as a key contact for clients and contractors.
- Strong construction detailing skills, particularly across commercial building envelopes, roofing, cladding, curtain walling, substructures and internal fit-out.
- A sound working knowledge of Building Regulations, CDM 2015 and the processes involved in coordinating statutory compliance.
- Proficiency in MicroStation. Experience with NBS Chorus or other specification software would be an advantage.
- Clear communication skills and a practical, collaborative approach to solving problems.
- A UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.
