Senior Building Surveyor

Are you an experienced Senior Building Surveyor looking for an opportunity to join an established and growing multidisciplinary consultancy with a strong reputation across the property and built environment?

We are currently working with a highly regarded consultancy seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to join its London office, where you will take responsibility for delivering a broad range of professional and project-based surveying services across a variety of sectors.

This is a client-facing role offering excellent variety, with the successful candidate managing projects from inception through to completion while also supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team.

The Role

As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will be involved in a diverse range of professional and project work, taking responsibility for delivering high-quality technical and commercial advice to clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing specifications and tender documentation to obtain competitive and accurate contractor pricing.
  • Managing building regulations and planning applications, liaising with relevant authorities.
  • Designing, drawing and specifying projects of varying scale and complexity.
  • Assessing tenders and providing recommendations to clients.
  • Chairing and minuting project progress meetings.
  • Administering construction contracts and ensuring quality and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitoring project budgets, programmes and delivery against agreed scope.
  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts with contractors.
  • Managing client relationships and delivering a consistently high level of service.
  • Supporting and developing junior members of the surveying team.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally be MRICS qualified or working towards Chartered status, with a strong background in Building Surveying and experience across both professional and project-based work.

You will have:

  • A proven track record of delivering Building Surveying services across a range of sectors.
  • Strong project management and contract administration experience.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • The confidence to manage projects and liaise with contractors, consultants and other stakeholders.
  • A proactive, organised and commercially astute approach.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
  • A full UK driving licence.
