An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure, roads, earthworks and utilities projects across Scotland.

The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered profitably while maintaining excellent commercial controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial delivery of multiple civil engineering projects.
  • Prepare, monitor and maintain project budgets and cost forecasts.
  • Produce monthly cost reports and commercial performance reviews.
  • Prepare applications for payment and client valuations.
  • Manage subcontract procurement, negotiations and contract administration.
  • Assess and agree subcontractor applications and final accounts.
  • Identify, value and negotiate variations and compensation events.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC and other standard forms of contract.
  • Work closely with operational teams to maximise project profitability.
  • Monitor project risks and implement effective commercial controls.
  • Attend client meetings and provide commercial advice throughout project delivery.
  • Mentor junior members of the commercial team.

Requirements

Essential

  • Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering sector.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Experience managing infrastructure, highways, utilities or renewable energy projects.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and financial reporting abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying.
  • Membership of RICS or working towards chartership.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
